Welcome to Little Oaks!
Children in years 3,4, 5,6 and Mrs Owen and Mrs Bell form the Junior class. The children follow the curriculum and are encouraged to be independent. This page aims to give you an insight into what the children have been up to in lesson.
This term the children will be visiting a wood near Hackness as part of their forest schools experience. Here is a snapshot of the 3/4's trip.
On the first week back we went on a forest school trip to Hackness. We went there on the bus and the first thing we did when we got there was walk up to the forest. When we got to the top we made some hot chocolate with a Kelly kettle. Whilst the teachers were doing that we went on a leaf hunt. It was fun.
In one of the activities we built a den. We had five people on our team. We were very good and it was fun.
Our science topic this term is materials. The children have been identifying materials around the school and investigating their properties.
In French this term Year 3 are learning how to introduce themselves and say hello to others. They are learning numbers from 0-10 and looking at the French alphabet. Through stories and song Year 4 will learn how to describe themselves and others using vocabulary relating to parts of the body. They will learn numbers 0-20 and get more familiar with the alphabet and the verb 'avoir'.
The Iron Man and The Iron Woman
We used the books The Iron Man and the Iron Woman as a base for our own writing. The children have looked at how the author used language to create an atmosphere. They then began to write their own story.
