Admissions

We follow the LEA admissions guidelines. The LEA sets the number of admissions each year, with the approval of the governing body. Our published admission number (PAN) for September 2014 is 10 pupils. Where the number of children applying to start exceeds this limit, places are allocated in accordance with the LEA criteria, as set out in their admissions documents. All admissions to Wykeham School have to be approved by Scarborough Education Office prior to the child starting. Parents will need to complete a preference form for children seeking entry into reception.

When a child applies to join the school during the year, parents are welcome to come and view the school and meet with the Headteacher. We will then be able to answer any questions you may have.

If you wish your child to join Wykeham School please contact Harrogate Education Office, Jesmond House, 31-33 Victoria Avenue, Harrogate HG1 5QE Tel: 01609 533679

You can get further information on School Admissions by visiting the North Yorkshire County Council Admissions website, where you can also access an electronic application form.

Starting School

Subject to places being available, children whose fifth birthday falls between 1st September and 31st August in their year of entry will be admitted to Reception at the start of the Autumn Term. Children will be invited to a series of familiarisation afternoons in the Summer Term preceding their entry. Parents are welcome to make an appointment to discuss their child’s start to school with Mrs Thorp in the summer term.

We will consider a staggered entry for any child who has just turned four prior to entry or where there are special considerations.

We ask parents to bring their child to the classroom to help the process of settling in. Parents can collect their child from the gate at the end of the day.

Older children moving into the area begin school at their earliest convenience once a place has been granted.
